So we know the boy must be Peter – but who is the girl? Our new baby! We found out on Monday that we’ll be having a little girl. Time to practice braiding hair I guess!
I had a coupon for a free photoshoot for Peter’s birthday, so we got a few two year old photos taken. My favorite two are below and you can see the rest here

Peter’s birthday was Friday and we celebrated on Saturday with family. Mike’s sister Mel was able to make it in town from Wisconsin along with our brother-in-law Dave and their two kids Katelyn (our goddaughter, 3 weeks younger than Peter) and Josiah (only 3 months old). Mike’s Dad (Grandpa) came too and so did my parents (Gramma and Paca).

Peter had a great time and woke up every morning asking if we still had “friends over”. We had fun with a homemade Cookie Monster cake, Sesame Street theme and swimming – and entirely too many toys as presents!
You can see bunches of party photos here and photos from the weekend here.
Peter had his doctor’s appointment today and now weighs 31.88 lbs (87th percentile) and is 37 inches tall (96th percentile). Such a big boy! But it still only gives him a 16.4 BMI – that’s only in the 44th percentile – so he’s nice a lean.
You may have also noticed that the blog has a whole new look to it. I switched to a new blogging system (WordPress) and installed a plugin that allows me to instantly pull photos posted on Facebook to here. So you should be seeing a lot more updates from now on!

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated here. Mostly because I’ve been doing a lot of our updating on Facebook.
Our biggest news is that Peter will be a big brother! I’m due on November 14th and we should find out if it’s a boy or girl sometime this month.
Peter’s talking and growing every day – in fact he’ll be two this month, can you believe it?
You can see tons of new photos at the links below:

Peter took his first steps on Thursday! Can you believe it? At only 10 and a half months
We have a larger version of the video up at the photo album along with video of him “dancing” to the ABC song. He’s started bouncing on his legs whenever he hears songs he likes so we had to capture that on video too. So cute!

Peter sat for the first time last night! I propped him up and he was able to hold his balance on his own for about 30 seconds. I can’t wait until he can pull himself into a sitting position on his own, but he’s doing pretty well to sit at all so early!
He’s also starting to go longer between feedings – between three and five hours, usually closer to three and a half. I think that may be helping with his nap schedule too – today he’s taken two two-hour naps! Perfect!
He’s also showing more initiative in scooting towards objects and can “tell” us what he wants to play with by grabbed at it or gesturing near it. It’s funny how he already has favorite toys!
He’s also starting to babble some and it’s very weird because he’ll look directly at you and “talk” to you. He seems to think he’s really communicating. So adorable!
There’s a few new photos and videos up, including one of him playing with his feet, so go check them out!
Fit time sitting on my own!

First of all I just wanted to let everyone know that all of the family in Houston is safe after Hurricane Ike. Most are without power and a few have fences blown over but it’ll all be back to normal for them in a few weeks!
Peter got to watch more TV the past few days than the rest of the month combined because we had the news on so much! He really likes the moving lights, uh-oh!
He’s really started to show more interest in toys and likes to bat at the tiger that hangs from his play mat and get it to play songs. Since he loves to stand so much now (while we hold him up, of course) I also thought that he might like his “exersaucer” so I finally put it together. He’s a bit young for it and I had to put a pillow under his feet so he could reach but he really likes to be able to stand “by himself” in it.
He also figured out how to hit the buttons on it that make animals noises. He can’t reach them very well with his hands so he’s started hitting them with his head to get them to do what he wants. He’s very…resourceful? What a silly boy!
I’ve added some videos of him playing and about a dozen more photos so check them out! I can’t believe he’ll be 3 months next week – wow!

Peter rolled over from his tummy to his back last night! He only did it once so I’m not sure if it was a fluke or not but it was still exciting. He was mad I was making him do “tummy time” (it’s hit or miss if he enjoys it or not) and was tired of being on his tummy – so after some grunting and kicking he got into the position he wanted to be in!
I wish I could’ve got it on video but it caught me off guard. He’s not supposed to be doing that for another month almost! We’ll see if he does it again or not.
He’s sleeping a solid six hours a night and sometimes will go as much as eight, that’s only happened twice but you can tell when he hasn’t had enough sleep throughout the day. He’s added crying because he’s tired to his repertoire but that’s fairly easy to remedy. Just plop him into the sling and if he’s tired he’ll be asleep in minutes
His wakeful periods each day are starting to get a little bit longer and he’s cooing and smiling more. He still doesn’t like to be set down and wants to be carried everywhere or, at the very least, sitting on someone’s lap.
He seems to be getting the hang of nursing a bit more and is only taking 45 minutes to eat now instead of an hour. He’s also not spitting up nearly as much at each feeding, although the occasional one will still warrant several burp clothes.
Yesterday was our first day by ourselves too because Mike went back to work! I think he really missed Peter because he made me take a picture of them together in his uniform when he got back home. There it is below

Mike and I are now Godparents! Melissa and Dave had Katelyn this morning! http://web.mac.com/davepratt/Daves_Site/Katelyns_Birth.html has all of her photos.
As for Peter, he’s four weeks old today and will be a month on Friday. We gave him a bath today and he really seemed to enjoy it for the first time. In fact, he was crying until I put him in the water and then quieted down and just looked around watching what I did. He’s become so much more aware of the world around him lately and has really seemed to like our evening walks around the neighborhood. There’s a short video of him in the tub up and just a few more photos.
Smile for the camera!

I thought the journal needed to be a bit more personalized for Peter – hope you all like it!
I also changed the links on the side to make it easier to find the photos in the photo album – you can also view the video we’ve been adding there as well.
And as usual, here’s a cute photo of Peter:
