Peter had his 6 month doctor’s appointment the day before Christmas Eve and did great! Grandma Johnson went with us and he only cried when he got his shots and was hardly even fussy afterward – and no fever! He officially weighs 18lbs, 8 oz and is 27.25″ long. He’s really slowed down on his growth, which is textbook for breastmilk fed babies.
Christmas was lots of fun and Peter got tons of clothes (including a Tony Romo jersey for next season from Great-Aunt Donita), a handmade blanket from Aunt Mel (and Uncle Dave), bath toys and a wooden rattle from Grandma & Grandpa Graesser, an alligator and wagon from Grandma & Grandpa Johnson, a booster seat from Aunt Ann & Uncle Andrew, a few toys from Mommy and Daddy and other fun things. He seemed to like the bows and wrapping paper the best though!
He’s SO close to crawling now and is starting to get frustrated by it. Part of me hopes it happens soon, but I’m also glad I’m not having to chase after him!
There are lots of cute Christmas photos at the album to go look at.
It’s Christmas!

Peter turned six months old yesterday and we took photos of him inside yesterday and out in the leaves today when the weather turned nice. He loved feeling the leaves crunch in his hands and hearing them crinkle!
There’s some photos from a few days ago of Peter wearing an outfit that was my dad’s when he was a little boy. They look so much alike! All of the photos can be seen in the 7th month album.
You can also see video of Peter ALMOST crawling! He’s been rocking on his hands and knees and scooting backwards some. There are some other videos there as well.
We’ve got a six month checkup with the doctor on Tueday, so I’ll post his official weight and height then. He doesn’t seem to have gotten much bigger and I think he’s finally starting to level off, but we’ll see!
Also, just a note on the website that I added my “facebook status” to the right hand side of the blog. I usually update that every day so you can see a “mini post” of what’s going on with us.
Such a happy boy!

Peter started babbling this week saying “bah bah bah” and (my favorite) “mah mah.” It’s so funny because when he decides he wants to babble he starts opening and closing his mouth to form the sounds first before he uses his vocal cords to push any noise through. So he’s opening and closing his mouth over and over again before he even says anything! So cute!
We also started Peter on solids this week. So far he’s had pureed carrots, green beans and peaches, all homemade and frozen in ice cube trays a few months ago. The peaches were even grown on our tree outside, so they’re very organic! He really seems to like eating pretty much anything and will open his mouth wide when he sees the spoon and tries to help guide it to his mouth with his hands.
He also ate a few raisins (cut in half) that Daddy was eating that he was terribly interested in. He looked so funny trying to chew it that we took video of him, you can see it in the album.
We had a good Thanksgiving with both sides of the family and Peter enjoyed his first long car trip down to Houston. We left late at night to head down there and he slept the entire way and only had to stop once for lunch (his and ours) on the way back up. We even had a picture from the trip of him “driving” on our lunch break.
Peter loved getting to see his grandparents but was glad to be back home. He didn’t sleep well in the pack-n-play and likes his crib so much more. He goes to sleep almost immediately when I lay him down in his crib now and rarely wakes up at night, but seems to have trouble anywhere else. He slept 11 hours last night without so much as a peep.
He’s officially on a 4-hour feeding schedule now, with two ounces of pureed fruit or veggie at “dinner” time. Now if we could just figure out a nap schedule we’d be home free! Oh well, plenty of time for that later.
What’s that officer? I don’t look 16?
