So much to write about! Peter turned eight months old yesterday and he’s now 20 lbs and 28″ long. What a big boy
It was such a nice day out yesterday that we did most of Peter’s photos outside. His “official” eight months photo below was taken inside our barn. We also got photos of him in the tree (Mike’s holding him with him arm behind a tree branch), standing up and holding onto the fence and several inside. You should go check them out here!
As far as changes for Peter, we’ve got a big one! He’s crawling! Grandma & Grandpa Johnson were up visiting this weekend and got to see him do it for the very time. It was his way of celebrating Valentine’s Day I think. It’s slow but it’s crawling, you can see a video of that here!. He’s already gotten better at it since that video was taken!
He’s also trying to pull up and can get himself up on his knees but can’t quite stand all the way without our help. Once he’s up he’ll stand with just one hand on the furniture and will let go completely for several seconds before grabbing at it again when he starts to fall. It’ll be time to lower his crib really soon it looks like!
He’s also starting to get better in the church nursery and actually seems to be having some fun with the other kids now. He gets a little upset when we drop him off but that’s normal at this age.
I can tell that he’s really starting to understand more words now. He responds to his name nearly every time he hears it now instead of just when he feels like it and starts looking around for Mike when I say Daddy. He’s also starting to grasp the idea of the word “no” and gets all flustered when I tell him he can’t do or can’t have something. Luckily his attention span is short enough that I can usually distract him after stopping whatever forbidden activity it was and avoid a total meltdown.
His favorite distraction right now is music. Although he prefers to listen to Mike and I sing to him, he also loves listening to Mp3′s of children’s songs on the computer and playing with his little piano. Maybe he’ll be a musician!
