Peter’s such an active boy now! He loves to run, climb, slide, crawl, swing and dance. The boy is rarely ever still. There are lots of new pictures up that show Peter playing and a couple of videos as well.
Peter says “Dah-dee” for Daddy and “Bamba” for Mama. He also says “bah-bye” and waves. We’ve heard him repeat “ba” for ball and “ah-pain” for airplane but we’re not sure how well he grasps those sounds. He does the same for “beh-fash” (breakfast), “baf” (bath) and “ow-shied” (outside), repeating them but not independently choosing to say them yet.
Even though he doesn’t have many words yet he understands a lot and can make himself known pretty well. We have to avoid using the words banana, goldfish and nursing unless we’re prepared to give them to him! And I’d better not ask him if he wants to “go wake up Daddy” unless it’s time for Mike to get up!
He grasps pointing and gestures very well (Oh how I wish we’d done sign language now!) and will point at things when you ask them where they are. I asked him a few days ago where airplanes are and he immediately pointed to the sky! He LOVES planes and will stop what he’s doing to look for one when he hears it – whether he’s inside or out!
I’ve started looking for “transportation” bedding to start Peter’s big boy room. That would allow us to incorporate his love for planes as well as cop cars, trains, dump trucks and other fun “boy” things. We have a while until we need to move him into a big bed (he hasn’t crawled out of his crib YET) but we’ll be doing it before we realize it!
As many of you know we’re starting training to be foster parents this week and I’d like to have the room somewhat ready before we get another kiddo in the house. It will probably be later rather than sooner when that will happen, but it’s nice to be prepared!
Peter eats pretty much anything now and has six teeth to help him out. Yogurt is still one of his favorites, along with cheese, goldfish and hotdogs. He figured out the “snack trap” bowl so he can eat cheerios “on the run” when we need to. It’s funny though, he seems to prefer feeding US more than himself half the time now. So cute to see him share!
