Sarah’s growing quickly and is overall a happy baby. She loves to watch her big brother run and play and Peter loves to make her laugh – almost as much as he loves his wooden trains! ;)

Our spring started out with Peter as ringbearer in Grandpa Graesser’s wedding to Charlotte. What a great weekend with the family! Shortly after that we got to take Peter to “A Day Out With Thomas” and let him ride a real Thomas the Train! Thanks Gramma and Pacca for coming with us.

A few weeks later we got hit by a huge hail storm! You can check out the damages in “Storm of ’11″ photo album. Needless to say, we’ll be enjoying a new roof soon, courtesy of our insurance company. Thank goodness for insurance!

We’ve also had tons of fun celebrating Easter and taking Sarah’s monthly photos. Check out the highlights of  the last few months below.

But with the new year comes new adventures, like Peter busting his chin and getting seven stitches on New Years Day – oh no! We took them out a few days ago and it’s healing up nicely now but it was no fun! Peter’s glad to have the “strings” out of his chin now.

The day after Peter’s injury, little Sarah turned two months old. She let me take a couple of photos but I still can’t catch any of her big grins on camera – just the small smirks. Oh well!

For some reason she likes to pose like a gangster, even with her cute hat on! Right after I gave up taking photos - she decided to smile and be happy - this was at the tail end of her happy streak ;) Two month comparison shot.

So far most of the year has been spent by Peter playing with his new toys from Christmas, especially his wooden Thomas the Train set. But yesterday he took a break from that to play outside in the snow – we got about 2 inches that’s slowly starting to melt.

Snow ball! She didn't like the snow too much... Smiles! I still haven't caught one of her huge grins on camera yet.

Sarah will be six weeks old tomorrow and weighs around 10 lbs now. She’s starting to fit into her 0-3month clothes now and is becoming more social, staying awake for longer periods of time and smiling. It’s really neat to see how she and Peter are starting to interact more!

Peter’s been doing really well with Sarah and likes to hold her. We’ve done our best to include him as much as we can and not make him feel like she’s “taken over” but every once in a while he does get a little jealous when Mommy can’t play because she’s feeding the baby. Hopefully that will get better as Sarah starts to eat less often and for shorter periods of time.

She’s already going 3-4 hours between feedings during the day and an average of 5 at night (she went SEVEN hours last night!). She’s a great sleeper when it’s dark too and likes to be awake during the day – thank goodness! She has become a bit pickier and wants to be held when she’s awake – so we’ve pulled our trusty sling back out and I’m starting to use that again. Luckily she seems to like it as much as Peter did :)

Mike’s paternity leave ends tomorrow so the real the test for me begins! I’m thankful for all of the wonderful meals our friends have provided for us the past few weeks and even MORE thankful that we have more to come! What a wonderful support system we have!

We’re looking forward to Thanksgiving this year, especially since my mom will be cooking it up at our place. What a blessing to have time with family, wonderful food and not even have to leave our house!

She had lost a few ounces before we left the hospital (this is normal) and the doctor was amazed that she’s already above her birth weight. She had lost a few ounces before we left the hospital (this is normal) and the doctor was amazed that she’s already above her birth weight. Apparently they don’t usually get there until two weeks or later – but she’s just like her brother and a champion nurser, so I’m not surprised.

She’s been sleeping 3 hours stretches at night – which means I can usually get about 8 hours with only two interruptions to nurse. That’s AMAZING and makes me actually feel like a human being again already. Let’s hope she keeps up her good sleeping habits once she’s a bit older.

So far it seems like Sarah is NOT following in Peter’s footsteps in one key area: she’s not a “spitter”! She’s only been spitting up about 3 times a day and only tiny amounts. This sure is an improvement from Peter’s 30 FULLY soaked burp cloths a day. We would have to change his clothes and our own multiple times a day. I’m crossing my fingers that Sarah keeps up her “lady like” amount of spitting!

Peter is enthralled with her and wants to help “change” her diapers (which mostly involves him handing me the new diaper) and keeping watch to see if she opens her eyes. Luckily she doesn’t cry much because he gets really upset when she does and tries to comfort her. It’s really sweet, but also kind of sad because he’s frustrated that he can’t fix what’s wrong (it’s usually that she’s hungry). He DID successfully give her a pacifier this evening though and was very proud of himself. He also praised Sarah for doing a good job holding onto the pacifier. What a sweet brother to encourage her!

Labor was only 14 hours and while the initial contractions were worse than with Peter (because it was progressing faster), the process was much easier overall, especially after the epidural! We were only at the hospital for 4 hours before she was born! I’m feeling much better sooner than I did with Peter too, so overall we’re VERY happy ;)

We’ve been working hard on installing new floors this past month and we’re almost finished! I’ll be sure to post photos here when we’re done.

Our friends threw me a small shower this past weekend (which was wonderful! Photos to come soon) and we’ve been buying a few items that we need to finish up, but we’re mostly ready for her! So now we’re just waiting for Sarah – I’ll be 36 weeks this Sunday, can you believe it? Won’t be long now!
